Why It’s a Gift: Nearly 45 years later, there is still nothing normal about watching one of most successful mainstream entertainers of the ’30s to ’50s share a mic with the transcendently weird/wired Bowie. Here are Billboard‘s staff picks for the 100 greatest Christmas songs of all time - songs that, try as folks might, no amount of commercial overplay or corporate co-opting can seem to ruin. It makes every Christmas season a musical family gathering where everyone shows up and co-exists peacefully - something precious few of us are lucky enough to be able to say about our actual families’ real-life holiday celebrations. Perennials that date back the better part of a century at this point are still ubiquitous every holiday season, while new seasonal releases often take whole decades to prove their worthiness. Unlike the oldies and classic rock canons, which are forced to update their timeline parameters every so often (or at least shed some old songs to make room for the new), being a Christmas standard is a lifetime appointment. Well, maybe for ten months of the year, it goes into hibernation - but you know it’ll be back next November at the latest, and it’ll include the same songs it has for your entire life. It’s music for the most wonderful time of the year, even if it always makes you cry.Īnd it never goes away. It evokes a visceral, nearly oppressive sentimentality, one fortified and strengthened by a lifetime’s worth of associated holiday memories - personal, familial, romantic, nostalgic. But when they do connect, it’s magic – not to mention a holly jolly payday.Ĭhristmas music has a wavelength entirely its own, shared by an overwhelming majority of its most recognizable classics: a sublime yearning that’s at once profoundly saddening and deeply comforting. Some succeed, as with these modern Christmas classics others, which just dropped this year, have yet to prove their mistletoe mettle. And with each passing year, more than a few contemporary artists try their hand at crafting a new seasonal standard, something sweet and melancholy that lingers in the pine-scented air for as long as it takes you to finish a candy cane (without chewing, that is). People have been singing about Christmas almost as long as it’s been celebrated. The things that make Christmas songs great - whether carols, old pop standards or newer enduring hits - are most of the same things that make pop great in general: emotional connection, universal relatability, unshakeable catchiness. We haven’t added them all as some are not easily verified or differentiated from our current list (and we get many music genres suggestions that are duplicates), however all the genres we can research and confirm as valid or derivatives of existing genres or music types, we’ve added those contributors to our list of Music Genres Contributors with massive thanks. There’s a reason that listeners seem to get more impatient every year for the Christmas music season to start: Nothing else feels quite like it. The Music Genres List site covers many of the most popular styles of music, the site is becoming the definitive list of music genres on the Internet – thanks to you – and if you feel any music genres are missing (we’re sure there are many!) please send an email to add musicgenreslist dot com and we’ll add to get closer to completing the music list of genres.Īnd a big thank you to the folks who have already sent in suggestions. Many genres have a rich history or geographical significance, a cult following or music roots that go far beyond the 20th century. Music comes in many different types and styles ranging from traditional rock music to world pop, easy listening and bluegrass. The most comprehensive list of genres of music available on the Internet

If he makes, say, a Ryder defense and then a move back to 175, the division still feels somewhat stuck. But Canelo also wants another crack at Dmitry Bivol at 175 lbs. The winner of that vs Canelo - assuming Ryder (or whomever) doesn’t shock Canelo - could get done, though if it’s Plant, that’s business Canelo has already handled and I’m not sure there’s much appetite for a rematch, though Plant would have done everything he can to earn it and make it appealing in that scenario. Benavidez and Plant will fight for a WBC interim in the spring. He’s got all four world titles right now, it looks like he’ll fight on May 6, and that he will defend his crown, possibly against John Ryder, who has the WBO interim title. 2023 Outlook: No offense to anyone else, but for the most part, this division is currently as relevant as Canelo Alvarez makes it.Upcoming Fights: (2) Artur Beterbiev vs (8) Anthony Yarde, Jan. He is 39 years old, yes, but look at that top 10 again - he can get in there if he makes a move. I’ve been a longtime Andre Dirrell doubter/detractor/hater, however you need to put it, but the Andre Dirrell we saw in November was a genuinely different fighter than we’ve seen in years. I don’t intend to go into a lot on these picks (at least not in the post itself), but I do want to explain Andre Dirrell being one of the five here, because I know that may seem puzzling. Five to Watch: Dan Azeez, Andre Dirrell, Ali Izmailov, Giorgi Kushitashvili, Albert Ramirez. We’ll hopefully see that happen - so long as Beterbiev beats Yarde later this month - and hopefully something more substantial for Buatsi and Smith, who are the most intriguing guys in the top 10 other than the top two. 2023 Outlook: There’s a “the fight” to be made here, of course, and it’s Bivol vs Beterbiev.(6) Krzysztof Glowacki vs Richard Riakporhe, Jan. Upcoming Fights: (4) Ilunga Junior Makabu vs (9) Noel Mikaelyan, Jan. Five to Watch: Chris Billam-Smith, Kamshybek Kukabayev, Lenar Perez, Richard Riakporhe, Jordan Thompson. This is also a division that still feels ripe for new blood to make a big impact, as we saw Jai Opetaia do in 2022. Maybe nobody is GREAT!, but there’s a lot of solid matchmaking to be made. 2023 Outlook: It’s nice to see this division about to get active again early in the new year, because there are a lot of good fights to be made at cruiserweight.Upcoming Fights: (8) Joseph Parker vs Jack Massey, Jan. Five to Watch: Jared Anderson, Daniel Dubois, Filip Hrgovic, Bakhodir Jalolov, Arslanbek Makhmudov. There could or at least should be something significant again this year for Wilder and Ruiz, possibly one another Anthony Joshua will be on the comeback trail veterans Whyte and Parker are kinda hanging on at this point, almost waiting to be lapped hopefully we see Bakole and Sanchez get something of note, and Sanchez in particular really needs it. Usyk has mandatory orders to face Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois both, but not at the same time, no Mike Awesome coming to ringside before Taz vs Masato Tanaka and getting thrown into the match. If not, all kinds of other fights open up, obviously. For now, it looks like the fight will happen, but boxing is weird, and Tyson Fury can be weirder. 2023 Outlook: All eyes are on whether or not Fury vs Usyk gets made if it does, we likely crown an undisputed world heavyweight champion, the first in the four-belt era.Minimumweight: (4) Ginjiro Shigeoka vs (9) Daniel Valladares, Jan.Minimumweight: (3) Masataka Taniguchi vs Melvin Jerusalem, Jan.Junior Lightweight: (4) Hector Luis Garcia vs Gervonta Davis, Jan.Lightweight: (3) Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia, Jan.

But as a general guide, 2 drinks in an hour for a man, or 3 drinks in an hour for a woman, is a good starting point. It’s impossible to say exactly how many drinks it will take to reach any of these BAC levels, as it depends on a number of factors. You may pass out or even experience a coma. You might start vomiting, and your vision and hearing start to become impaired.Īt 0.15 BAC, you’re starting to feel extremely dizzy, confused, and nauseous. Your speech and coordination start to worsen, and you might have trouble walking.Īt 0.10 BAC, you start to feel very dizzy, nauseous, and lightheaded. You might also start to feel daring and less inhibited.Īt 0.08 BAC, you start to feel sluggish and dizzy. For a woman, it’s closer to 3.Īt 0.02 BAC, you might feel a little relaxed and lightheaded.Īt 0.05 BAC, you might start to feel impaired judgment and have trouble multitasking. The amount of alcohol in your bloodstream is called blood alcohol concentration (BAC).Īs a general rule, it takes about 2 drinks in an hour for a man to start to feel the effects of alcohol. How many shots does it take to get drunk? Aside from this magnificently strong ale, other beers that come close in terms of alcohol content are Tactical Nuclear Penguin by BrewDog, Sea Dog Sunfish Ale, Schorschbräu Schorschbock, Brewmeister Snake Venom, and Struise Black Damnation. The End of History is also the world’s most expensive beer, with a bottle costing a whopping £500 ($704 USD). This beer was brewed to challenge conventional beer styles and served in taxidermied animals. This beer is an incredibly strong ale with an alcohol content of 55 percent ABV (alcohol by volume). The beer with the highest alcohol content is the The End of History by BrewDog in Scotland. In comparison, a 12 ounce can of light beer contains around 95 calories, a 12 ounce can of hard seltzer contains around 100 calories, and a 5 ounce glass of red wine contains around 125 calories. It is much more caloric than other alcoholic beverages such as light beers, hard seltzers, and wines. Mickey’s Malt Liquor is an American lager-style beer with 5.6% ABV (alcohol content by volume). "Hello, world!" example Ī example of "Hello, world!" exists in MATLAB. Common usage of the MATLAB application involves using the "Command Window" as an interactive mathematical shell or executing text files containing MATLAB code. The MATLAB application is built around the MATLAB programming language. By 2016, MATLAB had introduced several technical and user interface improvements, including the MATLAB Live Editor notebook, and other features. The user interface was reworked and Simulink's functionality was expanded. Some especially large changes to the software were made with version 8 in 2012. MATLAB's Parallel Computing Toolbox was released at the 2004 Supercomputing Conference and support for graphics processing units (GPUs) was added to it in 2010. In 2000, MathWorks added a Fortran-based library for linear algebra in MATLAB 6, replacing the software's original LINPACK and EISPACK subroutines that were in C. The first MATLAB compiler was developed by Stephen C. Over time, MATLAB was re-written for early operating systems created by Digital Equipment Corporation, VAX, Sun Microsystems, and for Unix PCs. Many of the toolboxes were developed as a result of Stanford students that used MATLAB in academia, then brought the software with them to the private sector. The software was popularized largely thanks to toolboxes created by experts in various fields for performing specialized mathematical tasks. īy the end of the 1980s, several hundred copies of MATLAB had been sold to universities for student use. The first MATLAB sale was the following year, when Nick Trefethen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology bought ten copies. was founded to develop the software and the MATLAB programming language was released. MATLAB was first released as a commercial product in 1984 at the Automatic Control Conference in Las Vegas. John Little and programmer Steve Bangert re-programmed MATLAB in C, created the MATLAB programming language, and developed features for toolboxes. They decided to reprogram MATLAB in C and market it for the IBM desktops that were replacing mainframe computers at the time. Moler would leave copies at universities he visited and the software developed a strong following in the math departments of university campuses. At the time, MATLAB was distributed for free to universities. Early versions of MATLAB were simple matrix calculators with 71 pre-built functions. The software was disclosed to the public for the first time in February 1979 at the Naval Postgraduate School in California. The first early version of MATLAB was completed in the late 1970s. There were no programs, no toolboxes, no graphics. In the beginning (before version 1.0) MATLAB "was not a programming language it was a simple interactive matrix calculator. This was followed by Fortran code for linear equations in 1971. He developed MATLAB's initial linear algebra programming in 1967 with his one-time thesis advisor, George Forsythe. Moler became a math professor at the University of New Mexico and started developing MATLAB for his students as a hobby. The idea for MATLAB was based on his 1960s PhD thesis. MATLAB was invented by mathematician and computer programmer Cleve Moler. As of 2017, more than 5000 global colleges and universities use MATLAB to support instruction and research. They come from various backgrounds of engineering, science, and economics. An additional package, Simulink, adds graphical multi-domain simulation and model-based design for dynamic and embedded systems.Īs of 2020, MATLAB has more than 4 million users worldwide. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages.Īlthough MATLAB is intended primarily for numeric computing, an optional toolbox uses the MuPAD symbolic engine allowing access to symbolic computing abilities. MATLAB (an abbreviation of "MATrix LABoratory" ) is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment developed by MathWorks. Afterwards, he buries his victims in an old lot, where he “hears” them talking to each other and getting along wonderfully.Ĭarter discussed what led to the conception of Liquid Soul with : His victims are wide-ranging, from a heroin addict to a police sergeant in the midst of a search for his son’s killer. Through this, the narrator dons the belief that he is helping his victims, that they are grateful for his intervention, while learning a thing or two about himself in the process. Once active fish are located, it is time to anchor up and thoroughly fish the area. The stripers will cruise the edges of these flats to feed and then utilize the quick access to deep water for cover.īegin the day by drifting baits to identify productive locations. The herring will often school up on these flats to get out of heavy current. However, the most productive areas tend to be shallow flats adjacent too inside turns of the main river channel. Best Locations for River Stripersīesides the obvious of fishing around the most concentrated schools of bait, bridges, rip-rap banks, and piles of timber all hold fish. Once the gear is engaged, the rod’s fast action comes into play as it ‘loads up’ in the rod holder, perfectly hooking the fish in the corner of the mouth. Once the bait clicker goes off, it’s important the fish is allowed to sustain a run before engaging the reel. In order to achieve a proper hookset, extreme patience helps. Some companies make rods specifically for striper fishing, for example, the Ugly Stick 7-footer MH for striper. Rods 7 feet or less provide enhanced leverage for big fish in heavy currents. Regarding rod selection, anglers should stick to shorter, medium-heavy models with fast actions. Additionally, bait clickers allow a fish to move freely with the bait. No matter the reel style, bait clickers will alert anglers of a run when multiple lines are in use. Reels should be spooled with a high-quality braid, no less than 50-pound. Some anglers prefer conventional baitcaster reels for the added drag and additional power needed to turn large fish out of ripping current. Larger spinning reels in the 5000 to 7000 size class posses the line capacity to handle long runs. This is important to remember when selecting striper fishing tackle. Up and down the East Coast striper anglers are required to use circle hooks, as they allow for an easy release of the fish without harming them, when fishing with bait. The problem is,your quickshifter is likely a push style for normal shift pattern and the strain preload is set very light on the dynojet shifters,Shifting up with your foot sucessfully on the 1-2 change on a drag bike is very tough and with a very light preload you can often hit nuetral or rip the dogs off second gear.My solution was to use the cordona pull style shifter with the shift kill done through the ecu.The cordona sells a busa plug and play setup with the 220 ohm resistor etc.it can be setup for race shift so you push down to shift and most importantly you can set the shift kill foot preload in kg/pounds to a heavier preload so it ensures sufficient pressure is used to shift kill and always grab second gear,I set mine at 12 kg for a firm boot shift that hasnt missed a shift yet.The benefit of adjustable preload is,you can sneak the kill time down accordingly and actually shift faster than an airshifter, provided your foot remembers to do its job.Quicklapper performance in Australia is the local dealer for them, very happy with mine.A buddy set up his z圆 with the dyojet quickshifter and the cycletek kill box successfully but its less than ideal and you have to keep your foot well off the gear lever between shifts, which takes up head space to think about that on every shift.Come spring I am sure we will be overrunning /r/motorcycles - I think it'd be nice for us to have a home for just trackday information, tips, tricks, stories, videos and everything else.įor now I am leaving this long list. |
